About Me

My initial introduction to science was through short-form content on YouTube. Each video was no more than 5 minutes long, yet they captivated my interest and I would spend hours learning at the hands of a science communicator. I would then go on in my college courses to take Science Writing, which quickly became my favorite course and superseded my major and minor requirements as a cognitive neuroscientist. Science communication as an art form struck me, and I have continued to pursue science writing and videos ever since.

Throughout my education, I believed I had to be a scientist to communicate it effectively and inspire the next generation of scientists. Due to this belief, I started a PhD program this past year. I also left the program indefinitely within 6 months. This deviation in career was because I am not meant to be a scientist; I am meant to be a communicator. I do not regret my years as a neuroscience researcher–and there were MANY years as one in training. Yet, I believe my extensive research experience fuels my capability in scientific writing and videography as I experientially stand in between nonscientists and PhD-level academics.

Outside of my personal career, I have created educational platforms to engage younger audiences to science careers. Through social media videos, websites, newsletters, and infographics, I am informing students internationally about the ups, downs, and intricacies of research–particularly in the psychological and neuroscientific spheres. Having been inspired initially by science communicators of similar mediums, I am paying tribute to those who paved the way for me.

My truest passion in life comes from being able to use my foundational knowledge in scientific techniques and methods to help students that are meant to be scientists find their way. Now having left academia, I am working towards my true passion of becoming a nationally-acclaimed science communicator via videos, lectures, blogs, and op-eds.
